The California fire service is urging all California firefighters and their families to take some time on October 15th to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

California Professional Firefighters President Lou Paulson and California Fire Chiefs Association President Tracey Hansen have sent a joint letter to all California fire departments and firefighter union leaders urging California firefighters to attend and participate in the Memorial Ceremony in Sacramento, and be part of a Safety Stand Down in fire stations on October 15th from 11:30am to 1:00pm to view the ceremony online.

“The California Firefighters Memorial Ceremony is more than an event. It is a part of our sacred responsibility to “never forget” those who have given their all, and give comfort to the families they leave behind,” wrote the two fire service leaders. “It is also an annual reminder of the hazards of our profession, and the need for vigilance in protecting our safety and health.”
