With a career spanning over several decades, Dan Shannon was a devoted soldier to his profession and his firefighting family. Even when he suffered massive damage to his heart and back as the result of a stairwell collapse, Dan fought to remain on active duty. On the job, he was famous and infamous for his sense of humor and story telling. Always with a note of sarcasm, Dan would describe himself as a firefighter/paramedic who actually did his job. At home, Dan was a doting husband. Sadly, his wife, Irma passed away just weeks before he, himself, died of heart failure. A beloved uncle and brother, Dan was looked up to as a hero because he continued to put his life at risk for others.
