Roger Harless loved the fire service. He served the citizens of Contra Costa County with honor and distinction for nearly 29 years, rising to become a captain at Contra Costa Station 11. In 2018, he was part of the first group to complete hazardous materials training and become a member of this specialized group of firefighters. Away from the firehouse, he was a devoted family man and coach. In January 2019, Roger succumbed to the effects of job-related cancer.
