David Robert Rosa’s passion for serving others is what led him to join the Los Angeles County Fire Explorers program when he was only sixteen years old. Before becoming a full-time firefighter with the Long Beach Fire Department in 2001, David served others as an ocean guard, lifeguard instructor and a paramedic. During his 17-year career, he embodied the characteristics of leadership and selflessness. He promoted through the ranks to fire captain and was dedicated to his role as a training captain, impacting the lives and careers of countless new firefighters. David was shot in the line of duty while responding to a structure fire. He is survived by his wife, Lynley, his two sons, Alec and Samuel, his parents, Paul and Jean, and his sister Julia.
