George Alan Pearce was hired by the Newport Beach Fire Department in 1973, and would go on to bravely serve the residents of that community for more than three decades. Over the course of his career, George rose to the rank of battalion chief, and was also an instrumental member of the department’s HazMat team. Outside of the firehouse, he loved to be active, enjoying golf, skiing, softball, jeeping, pickleball and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Jackie, their four stepchildren and their eight grandchildren. George died in 2014 following a battle with job-related cancer.
