Jack Young spent more than three decades of his life in service to the state of California through his role as a firefighter, and later as a crew captain, with CAL FIRE. Before his retirement in 2002, Jack bravely served the residents of Fresno, Humboldt and Tuolumne counties. He was a devout Christian, always being the first to want to lend a helping hand to those in need. Those who knew him best remember Jack as an honest, generous, strong, outgoing and deeply caring man. He is survived by his wife, Rene, his sons, Paul and John, his two daughters-in-law and his grandchildren. Jack died in 2008 following a battle with job-related leukemia.
