Lawrence “Larry” Groff was tragically killed, along with Lars Stratte, when their two tankers collided over a wildfire in Hopland, CA. Larry was always known to be a generous, kind man who charmed all with his southern drawl. He had a strong presence, which solidified his status as a devoted husband to his wife and a loving father to his children and step-children. Throughout his career as a pilot for both the California Department of Forestry and the U.S. Navy, Larry was able to log over 15,000 in differing aircrafts.
