In August 2002, Contra Costa Firefighters Local 1230 Vice President Michael Impastato lost his battle with job-related cancer. As an engineer with the Contra Costa Fire Department for 24 years, Mike Impastato proudly served his brothers and sisters as a local union officer for 17 years. During his tenure, he earned trust and respect not only from his own local union membership, but also from the entire executive board of the California Professional Firefighters. His roots were deeply planted in the labor movement and he was one of our active soldiers who fought on the front lines to ensure that firefighters and all working men and women in California had a voice.
