Rich Hall was hired by the Menlo Park Fire Department in December of 1973 and he happily spent his career with the department, serving the community with honor and distinction and rising through the ranks to Battalion Chief. Rich enjoyed mentoring and training the next generation of firefighters by teaching fire academies and working as an instructor in the Fire Science program at the College of San Mateo. Outside of work, Rich dedicated his time to staying fit, competing and winning medals in the Firefighter’s Olympics, and spending time with his family, friends and firefighter “brothers”. Rich succumbed to the effects of job related cancer and is survived by his wife, Barbara, his daughter and son in law, and his five grandchildren.
